About TÜV SÜD Verify
Inspection reports provide information on the subject, nature, scope, and result of an inspection. Since 1995, TÜV SÜD Industrie Service has been creating all inspection reports electronically. After creation, customers receive an original printed report on special watermark paper. Additionally, they have the option to access and forward the report as a PDF. However, since the watermark is missing in the PDF and any copies of the original, the authenticity of the report cannot be guaranteed with absolute certainty. For this reason, since May 2012, TÜV SÜD Industrie Service has added a QR code to all electronic inspection reports. This QR code links to the original report stored on a secure TÜV SÜD server.
With the TÜV SÜD Verify app, users can quickly and conveniently check whether the report they have matches the original stored by TÜV SÜD. It does not matter whether the report is a PDF or a printed copy/fax. Simply scan the QR code on the report, and the app will retrieve the corresponding version from the TÜV SÜD server.
QR codes will also be used on inspection labels in the future
In a next step, TÜV SÜD Industrie Service will also apply inspection labels with QR codes to inspected equipment such as elevators, escalators, pressure vessels, and electrical installations. By scanning the code, users will receive details specific to the equipment type and can access information such as:
-When was the equipment last inspected?
-When is the next inspection due?
-What was inspected?
TÜV SÜD Industrie Service customers can also retrieve the complete inspection history of a piece of equipment online. This requires an “Extended Login” via netinform – the TÜV SÜD industry portal. Further information and the application form for extended access can be found here:
