The tuner works in landscape and portrait, iPhone and iPad! Note that on iPad the mic is not at the bottom where the speakers are - it is at the top! Hold the mic close to the source if it is silent like an unplugged electric guitar.
As a bonus you can change the base frequency for the tuning from 440Hz to something else, if it fits your voice or instrument better. It is also a great way to drive your bandmates crazy :)
