Dialysis sessions usually last about three to four hours and are needed at least three times a week. This essentially means patients spend a lot of time with technicians who administer the treatment. Hence, it is important to ensure that dialysis technicians are skilled, adequately trained, and have a patient-friendly disposition.

The program is an advanced training initiative for candidates already qualified as dialysis technicians and so employed at various nephrology centers in India.
