About Nguzo Saba 365
Nguzo Saba 365 was created to make the Seven Principles a part of daily life in the Black community – 365 days a year. The app works with the Nguzo Saba 365 website to create an online community promoting these principles and encouraging us to reconnect with our history as STEM innovators to create better outcomes.
We accomplish this by –
using technology to increase understanding and embrace of the Nguzo Saba / Seven Principles as a code of conduct for the Black community,
being models as STEM professionals to help restore our self-understanding as STEM innovators to inspire mastery of every STEM discipline, and
by promoting Blackness as an expansive cultural concept with a value system that requires committed practice.
To achieve these goals, we introduce three new programs –
Nguzo Saba - IN MOTION
Kwanzaa For Kids, and
The Seven Principles of STEM.
Nguzo Saba - IN MOTION highlights Black organizations applying the Seven Principles in their daily operation so we can learn from and repeat their example everywhere.
Kwanzaa For Kids expands children’s engagement with Kwanzaa and the Seven Principles by increasing fun levels with the holiday. We offer online puzzles, games, children’s books, and interactive video craft tutorials to inspire creativity and increased understanding of Kwanzaa and its principles. Content created through our partnership with Imagiread Children’s Literacy Academy promotes the Nguzo Saba and holistic cultural education to improve literacy outcomes.
The Seven Principles of STEM encourages Black people to become STEM innovators who are both “responsive and responsible” to the presence and needs of people, the world, and our divine obligations in our use of STEM.
This app also supports our Saturday STEM & Culture Sessions where we meet weekly to discuss these things.
