About cardchat - AAC
cardchat is an AAC picture communication app specially designed for people with communication disorders (such as autism, language delay, aphasia, intellectual disabilities, etc.). It supports custom categories, custom cards, long-press for large image preview and editing/sorting, supports both static images and GIF animations, supports Cantonese, is ad-free, Local storage free version is free for life.
We have tried various mainstream AAC/PECS software, but the complex interfaces and cumbersome sentence-building operations often make communication even more stressful for special groups, requires extensive training to use. Therefore, we decided to develop our own app with a simple and flat interaction design, easy to use without training, real-life relevant images, highly extensible interface.
The app offers many customizable features in the system settings, currently supporting:
1. Add custom categories (supports static images and GIF animations)
2. Add custom cards (supports static images and GIF animations)
3. Long-press to sort or delete categories
4. Long-press cards for large image preview and card editing (sorting, copying to other categories, deleting)
5. Adjust the number of cards per row and card size (fewer cards per row means larger cards)
6. Voice selection
7. Adjust speech speed
8. Modify the long-press duration to enter card editing mode (to prevent accidental touches by children)
9. Adjust font size for better accessibility for the elderly
Currently, only the local storage free version is available, which is ad-free and free for life, supporting up to 200 custom cards.
Custom card data is stored locally within the app and will not be uploaded to the cloud. Deleting the app will result in the loss of custom cards, so please be aware.
In the future, we will develop an unlimited local storage version and a cloud storage version. This is just a preview; you can follow our official website and social media (displayed at the bottom of the app's system settings) for updates.
